The Essence of the Descriptive Essay

The descriptive essay is a type of the expository essay. Another expository essay variation is an informative essay.

The expository and the informative essays have a lot of common features. However, they are not the same. There is a great difference between the descriptive and the informative subkinds of the expository essay. And this difference can be considered as an essence of the descriptive essay.

While the informative essay deals with the generally recognized facts, the descriptive essay is normally based on the student’s vision of the object or even. It is very partial and personalized. The student does not have to take into consideration the generally accepted points of view while writing his or her descriptive essay. If you see something in a different way, you will describe it differently than the other writers. Fort example, if the sun seems to you to be square and blue, you are not forced to write that it is round and yellow. You can write that it is blue and square, because it is your personal vision. And, what is more, you do not have to prove your words, or to provide any evidence, since the descriptive essay does not provide for supporting elements.

So, the essence of the descriptive essay is a reflection of the student’s inner world, of his or her way of thinking and vision of the outer world. You are not confined to observe the opinions of your mates or of someone else. Just write what you see, and you will compose a perfect descriptive essay.
